Do you know you can apply for Airport Transit Visa (ATV) from the German consulate without the hassle of appointment booking? Yes, you can!

Passengers with the following document(s) DO NOT NEED airport transit visa to travel to United Kingdom and Asia:

  • Nigeria passport holders in possession of visa(s) to any of United States of America (USA), Ireland, Canada, Japan and European Economic Area (EEA) in addition to their valid visa or residence permit to United Kingdom (UK) or Asia.
  • Holder of a diplomatic passport
  • Holder of a valid visa or residence permit issued by any Schengen state
  • Holder of a residence permit issued by a Member State of the EU or EEA
  • Holders of residence permit issued by the Principality of Andorra, CAN. JPN, Republic of San Marino or the US, that guarantees unrestricted right of return.

However, if you do not have any of the above document(s) and therefore require Airport transit visa to travel, you can submit your passport with all required documents to the German embassy in Lagos without prior appointment.

Applications can be submitted Mondays through Fridays at the German Embassy in Lagos between the hours of 6:00am and 8:00am with limited slots per day.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR THE ATV

1.            Complete application form & declarations duly signed.

2.            2 Passport photographs

3.            Valid passport

4.            1 copy of passport data page

5.            Confirmed airline ticket to final destination

6.            Declaration of accuracy of information

7.            Copy of valid visa for your final destination

8.            Driver’s license and/or utility bill in your name as proof of residence

9.            If employed: Employment letter, the beginning of your employment, your monthly salary, the beginning of vacation and resumption of work. Original letter signed with blue ink.

10.          If self-employed: Biz-file issued by ACRA

11.          If dependent spouse without own income: Employment letter of your spouse, beginning of employment, your monthly salary and marriage certificate

12.          If minor child: birth certificate, school letter and marriage certificate of parents (originals with one copy)

13.          Both parents have to sign the application form personally at the embassy.

NOTE

  • Processing timeline is 5 days.
  • Visa fee is 80Euros which is about NGN38,000. If you are paying in the Nigerian currency then it should be paid in cash in N1000/N500 notes at the embassy.
  • Visa grant is at the discretion of the consultant. In the case of denial, fees are non-refundable.
