DO YOU KNOW THAT A FAKE /INVALID YELLOW CARD CAN LEAD TO A VISA DENIAL?

Following recent engagements with the Home Affairs Visa Consular based at the South African High Commission in Abuja, a serious observation was raised about a lot of fake/invalid yellow cards being presented as part of the SA visa application requirement process thereby leading to a high rise of denials.

Upon further investigation, it was identified that there is an issue of lack of information on the process of verification of the yellow card authenticity prior to submission by the trade partner or traveler.

To curtail this trend, the trade member or traveler must check the validity of their clients/traveler’s yellow card prior to them proceeding for submission at the VFS Center. This is a once off process unless the client/traveler has a new yellow card.

Below is the verification process which takes about 2 minutes. It is easy and free via the below website which is the same one for the Official Yellow Card registration:

Step 1: Visit www.yellowcardnigeria.com

Step 2: Type in the yellow card number found at the bottom right hand of the card in the box that says “Enter Yellow Card Number”.

Step 3: Type in the passport number in the box that says “Enter Passport Number”

Step 4: Click search and wait for result.

Step 5: If valid, it will automatically open the profile of the traveler showing the full vaccination details. If not valid, the boxes will clear and a sign highlighted in pink above will show the below;
“Oh snap! Please Enter Valid yellow card code or passport number”.

Step 6: If valid, log out and proceed with the visa application. If not valid, kindly advise the client/traveler to visit the above website and register with N2000 payment. Print the necessary receipts and acknowledgement email.

Step 7: The client should go with the documents to the Port Health center, receive the vaccination (if need be) and collect the new digitized Yellow Card which is verifiable on the same website.

Note this before you apply for a visa that requires a yellow card as part of documentation.
