Visa application starts only after all necessary documents have been collected. Each country has its own visa application requirement therefore document submission depends on your destination country and visa category.

This is a detailed list of acceptable proof to support your visa application.

The following documents listed must be presented for a visa application.

Proof of civil status

  • Marriage certificate
  • Birth certificates of minor
  •  Death certificate (if applicable)
  • Divorce certificate (if applicable)

Proof of Employment

  • Employment letter
  • Leave Letter from employer
  • Salary account statement
  • Letter of sponsorship if trip is funded by employer
  • Pay slips

If self-employed:

  • C.A.C Certificate(s)
  • Tax Clearance Certificate
  • Office rent receipts (if applicable)

For Tourism / Visit

  • Details of itinerary
  • Cover letter
  • Travel history: Copies of past visas (if available)
  •  From host: Invitation letter, Passport page OR residence permit, Proof of residence

For business

  • Letter of invitation from the company
  • Details of host company
  • Letter declaring the purpose of visit.

For work

  •  Offer of employment
  • Medical report
  • Proof of language proficiency (if applicable)
  • Proof of family ties (if applicable)
  • Police character report (if applicable)

For studies

  • Letter of acceptance from intending school
  • International test certification
  • Statement of purpose 
  • Proof of parental consent if under 18
  • Medical report (if applicable)
  • Police character report (if applicable)

For medicals

  • A letter of invitation OR document from the medical practitioner in your destination country: showing that medical arrangements have been made for the treatment of your disease and how the treatment will take.
  • Copies of medical reports and/or documents from the doctor treating you in your home country: having details regarding the nature of the illness and the diagnosis and should also list the reasons why the Doctor recommends that you seek treatment abroad.
  • Correspondence or documents from the doctor/health facility in your destination country.
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of strong ties to your home country
  • Medical Report. E.g. T.B test, (if applicable)
  • Medical insurance (if applicable)

For minors

           If traveling without parents;

  •  Birth Certificate
  • Passport data page of parents
  • A written consent signed by parents
  • Letter of introduction from school

For Retirees

  • Birth Certificate
  • Cover letter
  • Letter of Retirement
  • Pension statements for last six months
  • proof of property ownership (if applicable)
  • Contract of lease (if applicable)

Joining a Spouse

  • Civil Marriage certificate
  • Evidence of all legal name changes
  • Medical report (if applicable)
  • Adequate accommodation. E.g. Tenancy agreement showing spouse’s name
  • Utility bills
  • Proof that your relationship is genuine. E.g. Evidence of communications such as Telephone/email correspondence, posts or photos of both of you together, wedding photos
  • Proof of language proficiency (if applicable)
  • Copy of spouse Birth Certificate, spouse employment letter, letter of sponsorship from your spouse that he/she is supporting your application, copy of spouse biodata,  (if applicable)

In visa application, it is recommended that you provide adequate supporting documents especially in the area of finances. It is important to prove that you will be financially sufficient throughout your stay.

If the purpose of your trip is tourism/visit, you must be able to prove to the consular that you will return at your stated time. In this regard, demonstration of strong home ties is very crucial.

NOTE: Visa forms must be completed and all documents must be submitted as ORIGINALS and one set of photocopies. The originals will be returned.
