The Nigeria Police Clearance Certificate is issued by the Nigerian Police for verification of a person’s identity. It is a document that certifies that the holder has no criminal records used for different purposes such as for travel or immigration. In some instances, this document can be referred to as Police Character Certificate.
HOW TO GET THE NEW POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Before you visit the website, ensure you have the following requirements ready:
- NIN or BVN
- ATM card
- INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT DATA PAGE
- PASSPORT PHOTO ( white background)
Visit https://possap.gov.ng/p/select-service
- Sign up and create an account
- Fill the form
- Make payment
- Download receipt
VALIDITY: 3 months
TIMELINE: 1-3 DAYS
PROCESSING FEE: N30,000
Additional fees may apply depending on the physical location you visit for biometrics.
After payment, you will be invited to the nearest zonal office near you for biometrics. This invite will be sent to your phone number.
If you are applying from the Diaspora, make sure you have your proof of residence such as driver’s licence, residence permit etc to proof that you are abroad.
NOTE
- Ensure that the name on your NIN is same with what is on your passport
- Ensure that your email and phone number you used for the NIN are active
- Take receipt to the state CID in your location for biometrics.
